Sejarah
The establishment of the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) began with the Cabinet Meeting decision on 16 November 2018 which formed a Cabinet Committee to study the establishment of a single border agency with the Ministry of Home Affairs as the secretariat. On 30 July 2021, the concept of a single border agency was introduced and the Single Border Agency (SBA) Nucleus Team was established effective 11 October 2021.
AKPS was officially established on 1 January 2024 with 104 base positions at headquarters led by a Director General. On 3 January 2024, the Cabinet approved the AKPS policy, marking an important step in strengthening its functions and roles.
The AKPS Bill 2024 was tabled in Parliament and passed on 1 August 2024. It was gazetted as the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency Act [Act 860] on 17 October 2024.
AKPS began its pilot operation at the ICQS Complex Rantau Panjang, Kelantan on 1 January 2025 and is expected to operate at all active national entry points by 2026.
